On Friday 16 October, the Centre of Visual Arts & Research (CVAR) had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from Agios Kassianos Primary School for a unique musical and educational experience in the Museum’s Caterina Cornaro Gallery.
The educational programme was proposed and delivered by DUO NOÏMA, comprising two flautists: Eleni Kappa, a Cypriot musician based in France, and Virginie Bove, a French musician based in Cyprus.
Through a musical journey inspired by the royal courts and legends of Cyprus, the pupils enjoyed live performances of melodies and musical traditions from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, connecting what they heard with artworks from the Museum’s collection and the island’s history.
Live music, observation and interactive rhythmic activities encouraged creative participation, developed musical awareness and offered an opportunity to explore the connections between art, music and historical memory.
We extend our warmest thanks to DUO NOÏMA, as well as to the pupils and teachers of Agios Kassianos Primary School, for their participation in this memorable educational experience!
